Updating
FutPrint improves continuously. The web terminal picks up every change the next time the page loads; the desktop apps receive the same improvements in packaged releases. Moving to a new release takes about a minute and keeps everything you have set up.
Which version am I running?
Open the profile menu at the top right of the terminal. The version number is shown at the bottom of the menu. Version numbers follow the release date, so a higher number is a newer release.
What carries over
Nothing has to be migrated, exported or re-entered:
- Your sign-in lives in the Keychain or Credential Manager, outside the app, so the new release opens already signed in.
- Your workspaces, layouts and watchlists are saved to your FutPrint account.
- Market data and analytics come from TrueData's servers and are always current, whatever release you have installed.
Update on macOS
- 1Quit FutPrint
Choose FutPrint, then Quit FutPrint in the menu bar, or press ⌘ Q.
- 2Download the latest disk image
Open the FutPrint for Mac page and click Download for Mac. The page always offers the latest release.
- 3Replace the app
Open the disk image and drag FutPrint onto the Applications folder. When Finder asks, choose Replace.
- 4Open FutPrint
Launch it as usual. If macOS asks for permission on first launch, follow the same steps as in Installing on macOS.
macOS may ask whether FutPrint can use information stored in your Keychain. Enter your Mac password and click Always Allow. The new release is reading the sign-in the previous one saved.
Update on Windows
- 1Close FutPrint
Close the FutPrint window. The installer can also close it for you if it is still running.
- 2Download the latest installer
Open the FutPrint for Windows page and click Download for Windows. The page always offers the latest release.
- 3Run it
Run the downloaded file. It upgrades FutPrint in place, keeping your Start menu entry and pinned taskbar button.
- 4Open FutPrint
Launch it from the Start menu or taskbar. You are still signed in.
If you installed with the MSI package, install the new MSI the same way you installed the first one. It upgrades the existing installation for every user.
Do I have to update?
An older release keeps running, but new modules, settings and fixes only arrive with a new release. Updating whenever a new release is available keeps the desktop app in step with the web terminal, and with this documentation.
