Troubleshooting

Most desktop problems come from a one-time operating system check, the browser hand-off during Google sign-in, or the network. Find the symptom below.

macOS says it cannot verify FutPrint

This is macOS Gatekeeper checking a newly downloaded app. Open System Settings, choose Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click Open Anyway next to the FutPrint message. The full steps are in Installing on macOS.

macOS says FutPrint is damaged

Some macOS versions show "FutPrint is damaged and can't be opened" for a downloaded app instead of the usual check. The app is not damaged; macOS is blocking the download marker on it. Make sure FutPrint is in your Applications folder, then open Terminal and run:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/FutPrint.app

Open FutPrint again. If the message persists, delete the app, download it again from the FutPrint for Mac page and reinstall.

macOS keeps asking for my Keychain password

After installing a new release, macOS may ask whether FutPrint can use the sign-in saved in your Keychain. Enter your Mac password and click Always Allow rather than Allow, so macOS stops asking for that release.

Windows protected your PC

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen shows this for apps it has not seen often. Click More info, check that the app is FutPrint, then click Run anyway. See Installing on Windows.

The window is blank on Windows

FutPrint needs Microsoft Edge WebView2. It is normally present, and the installer adds it when it is missing, but it can be absent on PCs where it was removed or blocked by policy. Install the Evergreen WebView2 Runtime from Microsoft's WebView2 download page, then open FutPrint again. On a managed PC, ask your IT team to allow WebView2.

Google sign-in does not return to the app

After you finish signing in with Google, the browser has to hand you back to FutPrint.

  • Look for the browser's prompt. Most browsers ask before opening an app. Click Open FutPrint (or similar), and tick the option to always allow it.
  • Start again. Click Continue with Google in the app once more. Each click starts a fresh attempt, and unfinished attempts expire after ten minutes.
  • Use the browser you normally use. FutPrint opens your default browser. If you copied the link into a different browser, finish there and allow it to open FutPrint.
  • Reinstall if the prompt never appears. The installer registers FutPrint as the app that handles its sign-in links. Reinstalling restores that registration.

You can also sign in with your email and password, which happens entirely inside the app. See Signing In.

Opening FutPrint does not start a second window

This is by design. FutPrint runs one window at a time, and opening it again brings the running window to the front. Use workspaces and panels to arrange several views inside that window. See Working with Panels.

Charts show no data

  • Check your connection. The desktop app needs internet access for live data, just like the browser.
  • Check your plan. Real-time data and exchange coverage depend on your plan. On the Free plan, data is end-of-day. See Market data for data timing by plan.
  • Check network filters. Corporate firewalls and VPNs sometimes block the secure WebSocket connections that stream market data. Try another network, or ask your IT team to allow FutPrint.
  • Compare with the browser. Open futprint.truedata.in in a browser on the same computer. If data is missing there too, the cause is the network or the plan rather than the app.

Something else

Signing out and back in, or installing the latest release, fixes most other problems. If it does not, contact the FutPrint team through the support channels listed on the About page, and mention your version number from the profile menu and whether you use macOS or Windows.
