Orderflow Indicator

What is Orderflow?

Orderflow analysis focuses on how trades execute at bid/ask, revealing real-time buying/selling pressure, absorption, and imbalances that are not visible on standard price bars alone.

How the Orderflow Indicator Works

Depending on configuration, the indicator can show:

  • Bid/Ask Volume: Volume executed at bid vs ask per bar or price level
  • Imbalances: Significant differences between bid and ask volume
  • Cumulative Delta: Running total of delta over time

Interpretation:

  • Imbalances near key levels may indicate continuation or rejection.
  • Cumulative delta divergences can foreshadow reversals.

Available Settings in FutPrint

  • Aggregation: Bar-based or footprint-style
  • Imbalance Threshold: Percentage or absolute volume threshold
  • Cumulative Delta: On/Off and reset rules
  • Style: Colors for bid/ask, imbalance highlights, and delta

Practical Usage and Best Practices

  • Use with market profile/volume profile to identify context.
  • Validate breakout attempts with aggressive flow.
  • Watch for absorption when price tests prior highs/lows without delta confirmation.

Limitations:

  • Requires high-quality tick data and accurate classification.

Using Orderflow in the Platform

  1. Add Orderflow from Orderflow & Delta indicators.
  2. Configure aggregation and imbalance rules.
  3. Customize visuals and optional cumulative delta.
